My favourite time of year is upon us, winter is one of my favourite seasons, however this time of year can play havoc on your hair. You leave the house looking good only to have the wind and rain ruin your hairstyle and leave you looking a mess!
A great product we use at The Salon is: Redken Frizz Dismiss which is great for anyone with hair that tends to frizz in this damp weather. Simply, apply to wet hair and dry as usual and you won’t believe the difference it makes on first use.
It’s also vital to ensure your blow dry is done properly in order to stay fizz free! I thought I’d use this opportunity to give you some tips on styling your hair during these wet, windy cold winter months:
With blow drying your own hair; always 'blast dry' hair first, until it’s at least 70% dry.
Then sectioning hair is also key and makes life easier and quicker for you.
Also a good tip is to dry the front sections first then proceed to the back.
When dry, I’d recommend a bit of serum (especially if you have dry ends), a little bit only where needed and you’re good to go.
It’s also hard to maintain curls during the frosty weather too! Most people have their own favourite tools for this; be it curling tongs, wand or GHD. Mine is the wand! When curling, same rules apply:
Section hair off to make it easier I would also recommend a heat defence spray to protect your hair.
When curling you can take larger sections for a softer curl or wave to smaller sections which will give you tighter curls.
When curls are done, leave your hair to cool. Then you can run your fingers through your hair, use wide tooth comb or brush hair depending on the finish you want.
Some hairspray if desired and “ta-dah” fab hair that will last in the winter weather!
