‘POP’ IT LIKE IT’S HOT!

We’ve currently got lots of exciting stuff going on in The Gym, especially coming up in September (which is pretty much the new January!) The new timetable has just been released and the team are all looking forward to getting stuck into some of the new classes, including our latest addition:

“Pop Pilates”

This fab new class has a massive global following and counts Taylor Swift as a fan, so we’re all very proud to be the very first gym in Ireland to launch the class!

I’ve been asked several questions about it, so thought it might be a good idea to write a blog and give you guys some information before you try it out for yourself!

Ok, so what is ‘Pop Pilates’?

Originating from the US, it’s a ‘dance on the mat’, choreographed, Pilates style class. With an incredible fusion of ab-chiselling and total body defining moves choreographed to your favourite top 40 hits. This intense mat-based workout challenges students to rhythmically flow from one exercise to the next, developing a rock solid core while leaving no muscle untouched. Taking classical Pilates to the next level.

What makes Pop Pilates different than traditional Pilates?

While Pop Pilates moves all originate from classical Pilates the class design, relationship with music, sequencing and reps differ from traditional mat classes. The fundamentals of breathing, core engagement and powerhouse based movements are shared, however the emphasis on moving to the beat of pop music is what makes Pop Pilates so unique.

I like to think of it as the ‘BODYCYCLE of Pilates. ☺️ - So, you’ll work up a sweat!

The class is broken up to various segments, with regular new releases, ensuring that you get a full body workout and never get bored, each 45 min class consists of:

Standing Warm up

Total Body Opener

The Hundreds

Butt Challenge

Ab Challenge

Crazy Cardio

Upper Body

Back Work

Kick Butt Cardio

Hard Core

Flexibility Training

What are the benefits?

The list is endless, but some of the main reasons to do ‘Pop Pilates’ are to improve core strength, posture and alignment. Strengthen muscles and alleviate back pain. Increase your flexibility, agility and range of motion. As well body awareness, mind-body connection and of course the mental health aspects. There’s also plenty of adaptations to suit various levels.

If that’s not enough to entice you; it’s such a fun workout that you’ll be guaranteed to come out of the class smiling, revitalised and feeling good.
